Resurface Dive FAQ
Resurface Dive partners with some of the most luxurious charter vessels in the region.
Prior to your trip, we conduct a pre-trip interview to gather detailed information about your specific expectations and desired outcomes for your dive experience. This can be done through phone, email, or even in-person meetings when feasible.
Understanding your preferences allows us to carefully select the most suitable vessel for your needs. Factors such as the number and age of guests, type of diving, desired itinerary, and any additional activities you wish to engage in during the day are taken into account to ensure a tailored and fulfilling adventure.
Our expeditions take us to the magnificent reefs located off the coast of Port Douglas, namely:
- Opal Reef
- Tongue Reef
- Agincourt Reef
Resurface Dive possesses unparalleled expertise and extensive knowledge of these local dive sites on these reefs.
We have intimate knowledge of the hidden spots, such as where the elusive Moray Eel conceals itself at Castle Rock or where the currents gain strength at Turtle Bay.
We know the best spots to show you!
The outer reef is situated approximately 70km offshore, requiring a travel time of approximately 1.5-2 hours.
The actual duration can vary depending on factors such as weather conditions, the speed and capabilities of the particular vessel and the specific dive site location chosen.
Throughout the journey, you will have both structured and informal opportunities to familiarise yourself with the vessel and dive equipment, receive a comprehensive dive briefing, and understand the plan for the day’s activities.
We may also incorporate specialized breath work sessions/ holistic health discussions. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring along a captivating book and take the time to rest, relax, sunbathe and thoroughly enjoy the scenic voyage to and from the reef.
You’re exploring one of the world’s natural marvels and it doesn’t rain underwater. Embrace the raw beauty of Mother Nature and all the surprises she has in store for us.
It’s always a good idea to bring extra towels, warm clothing and a raincoat if you have one, ensuring your comfort throughout the journey.
Rest assured that our luxury partner vessels are equipped with bathroom facilities, including hot showers, allowing you to rinse off in pure luxury before retreating to the spacious and cozy interior cabin, where you can stay dry and warm for the return trip.
Please note that the captain prioritizes safety and will not travel during if there is a severe weather warning such as cyclones, high wind or dangerous weather/sea conditions.
Therefore, if the trip is proceeding as planned, you can have complete peace of mind knowing that it is safe to embark on this incredible experience, even if it’s raining!
When wind speed exceeds 15 knots, the boat journey may become more likely to cause motion sickness. The vessel we operate with have stabiliser which held to reduce the roll of the vessel and make for a smoother journey.
If you are susceptible to seasickness, we recommend taking preventive medication in the morning at least 1 hour before boarding the vessel. Seasickness tablets such as Travel Calm and other reputable brands can be conveniently purchased from any local pharmacy in Port Douglas.
Taking these precautions will help ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout the journey. Furthermore breath work may help to assist if you are feeling sea sick and we are here to help you.
The depth of our dives is entirely customised based on your preferences and qualifications.
The majority of sites on the outer reef feature coral walls sloping down to approximately 20m, which is ideal for Open Water Divers with a depth limit of 18m.
For Advanced certified divers, we can arrange dives at deeper sites, allowing for a maximum depth of 30m to accommodate your desires.
If you’re a first-time diver completing introductory dives with us, the depth limitation is set at 12m. We have shallow sites with flat coral gardens that are perfect for these dives.
In cases where there is a group of divers with varying qualifications, we must adhere to the depth limit of the least qualified diver to ensure safety and compliance.

Yes. Depending on the vessel you are travelling on, generally three dives is the absolute maximum we can fit into a day trip. This is because travel time to the reef is generally 1.5-2hours. The day’s itinerary can be customised, but most clients feel that two longer relaxed dives are better than three rushed short dives.
If you would like to do more than 2-3 dives, consider chartering the vessel overnight. This way we can enjoy the thrill of a night dive as well as a very special sunrise dive.
